The number of internet users in Bangladesh are increasing day by day due to availability of smart phones. As a result Cybers Crimes are also gradually increasing in this Country. The crime which is occured in cyber world is called cyber crime. Generally, there are 3 major categories of cybercrimes. These categories include:

 

  • Crimes Against People: These crimes include cyber harassment and stalking, distribution of child pornography, various types of spoofing, credit card fraud, human trafficking, identity theft, and online related libel or slander.
  • Crimes Against Property: These crimes include DDOS attacks, hacking, virus transmission, cyber and typo squatting, computer vandalism, copyright infringement, and IPR violations.
  • Crimes Against Government: These crimes include hacking, accessing confidential information, cyber warfare, cyber terrorism, and pirated software.

To prevent cyber crime and punish the cyber criminal the Parliament of Bangladesh has recently passed Cyber Security Act, 2023. Before this new law there was effective Digital Security Act, 2018 and Information &. Communication Technology Act, 2006.
