In Bangladesh there are many local NGOs beside International NGOs working in various sectors. NGO/charity is to be registered at Department of Social Services (DSS), which is under the Ministry of Social Welfare. Another option of getting registered organization is to form Foundation or Society by the approval of RJSC under Societies Registration Act, 1860. But it’s very important to know that the registration is applicable only for those organizations which will work or give welfare services to the underprivileged children, women, youth, and physically or mentally challenged persons.
An NGO which is international and registered in abroad then needs to be registered in Bangladesh with NGO Affairs Bureau to work in development sectors. To be mentioned that local NGOs in Bangladesh also need to be registered at NGO Affairs Bureau to receive donations from outside of Bangladesh.
